Letter from the Chair

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Atlantic Used Oil Management Association, I am pleased to present the 2024 Annual Report to Members.

In 2024, the used oil and glycol program in Atlantic Canada, on behalf of more than 200 members, collected/recycled more than 29 million litres of used oil, close to three million used oil filters, and more than 750,000 kilograms of oil, glycol, and diesel exhaust fluid plastic and aerosol containers. That work meant those products were diverted from landfills and given a
second life.

Diverting used oil and glycol products from provincial landfills is important work that involves the cooperation and partnership of households, collectors, processors, commercial and industrial operations, and government agencies across the region.

In 2024 Atlantic UOMA expanded its engagement and partnerships with regional and municipal waste facilities for the collection of used oil products. Households/DIY mechanics can drop off used oil and glycol

products to regional/municipal waste sites with purpose-built infrastructure installed in 2024 as well as at a network of 880 participating drop-off locations across the Atlantic.

As we move into the second decade of program
delivery in the region, Atlantic UOMA remains focused on driving increased collection volumes and ensuring residents and businesses have access to drop-off and collection services.

I would like to thank the Atlantic UOMA board members and staff for their work in 2024. We are committed to being a trusted and reliable partner in each Atlantic province for the collection and recycling of used oil and glycol products on behalf of members.

Sincerely,

David Bois
